Winter 2024 - Somatic & Emotional Work on Internalized Whiteness (pilot)
Racialized experiences, history and trauma live in our bodies and nervous systems. White people are challenged to feel their feelings and to face these realities in their bodies. In the face of such discomfort, White people find themselves shutting down, freezing in guilt or shame, denying the lived experience of people of color, engaging in silent complicity or projecting rage onto bodies of color. It is vital we understand that this happens in spite of good intentions and White people can learn to increase their capacity by engaging in intentional emotional and somatic work. This workshop will be facilitated by Kristin Davisson*, Libbey Paul, and Dot Lambshead Roche.

Small, pilot group is a good fit for prior participants of the RCD foundational course on whiteness and anti-racism.
Together, we will work to build capacity through and in this work, practice recognizing somatic alarms, pause and be present in our bodies, connect more deeply with our community
  • Session 1: Safety and Trust/Building Container for Group Work
